Based in Riga, Latvia. , Microphone Records (IFPI Member) was set up three years ago by Elita Milgrave, a professional radio journalist and Guntars Racs, a professional music producer and musician. Both of them were also colleagues in one of the Latvian music pioneer companies “Mikrofons” (Microphone) already five years before the foundation of “Microphone Records”. They have gained enormous experience working together in the new and very chaotic music market of the Baltic States and become as the authorities among the other music industry people.
“Microphone Records” is the owner of the biggest local music catalogue, which contains more than 300 albums and singles, of which several have received Gold and Platinum status in Latvia. Many Dance and music tracks are licensed in Europe and in the world, including Japan.
In 1996 License Agreement with the company EMI Records was signed. As the result of which, carrying out successful promoting and marketing of EMI and Virgin artists.
The basis of the achieved success is a real and hard work, good relationship with the artists as well as successful and long-term co-operation with all mass media in the Baltic States. “Microphone Records” is the one of these few companies in the territory whose music products is licensed outside the Baltic States. As a good example, success of MicRec priority band “Brainstorm” in Belgium, Poland, Finland, Germany, Holand,Greece and the other European countries could be mentioned. The general strategy of the company is to prove that the artists from the Baltic States are compatible and are not at all worse than Scandinavian mega-groups, which are currently gaining the popularity.
